The long way round

How we got here

The first Organik, lit up at night

2006

The first one

Organik began as a weekly Wednesday psytrance night at Cool Runnings in Observatory, now Trench Town. Good vibes and good music, every single week.

Twice a year

We established our two yearly outdoor festivals, Gaian Dream and Love Project, in the Overberg. Along the way we discovered and developed both Dieprivier and Kromrivier farms as festival venues.

Things start to grow

The Cape Town psytrance scene hit its growth phase and Organik grew with it, on the back of consistency, great music, careful DJ bookings and sublime venues.

Coming back

After a break forced by COVID restrictions we returned to our usual rhythm of Gaian Dream and Love Project, with a renewed focus on production quality.

Present day

We are still pushing the boundaries of psychedelic music, and still taking joy in a quality production where everyone who comes can feel the love and the effort that went into it.

What we care about

The things we will not cut

The sound

We run the world-renowned d&b V-Series at every festival, properly tuned and properly managed, every time. The rig is what makes the psychedelic experience possible.

The decor

Showcasing art is what we do. The decor matters as much as the music, because the point is a whole sensory experience rather than just a playlist.

The people

Most of our crew started as volunteers. We are glad to bring young and enthusiastic people into festival culture, making the circle bigger one festival at a time.

Thank you

None of this works without you

Twenty years and forty-odd gates opened, and not one of them counted for anything until you walked through. Some of you have been coming since the first one in 2006. Some of you found us last season. A few of you drove out on the Thursday to dig holes in the sun for nothing but a meal and a bed.

We build the stage and hang the lights. The festival itself is made by whoever is standing on the floor at sunrise, and it is the part nobody can quite describe afterwards. That part has always been yours. We are only ever borrowing the field for a weekend.

Thank you for twenty years of it. See you at the next one.

Want to be part of it?

Almost everyone on our permanent crew started out volunteering on a build. It is hard work and long hours, and it is the way in.
